Riviera Maya Resorts span the full length of the Caribbean Coastline in Mexico. There are many spectacular hotels to choose from.
We have enjoyed many memorable holidays in this part of the world, so I thought it would be a good idea to share a selection of some of our favourite Riviera Maya Resorts.
To be honest, it was not an easy task to decide on a review criteria and narrow down the list because there is such a wide variety of high quality hotels on offer. From high-end luxury, imposing five star all inclusive, privately rented villas and budget break condos, you can find just about any type of vacation accommodation that you could dream of in the Mayan Riviera.
We thought about value for money, size, scale, service and location when deciding on the following list of our top five resorts. I hope our recommendations will help you to plan your dream vacation in Mexico!
The Gran Bahia Principe is my wife's favourite resort in Mexico. If you knew my wife, you would know that she usually wins most arguments, so it just had to come in at number one on our top five list. Where do I start, this complex is big, there are three hotels here in total, but you can explore all of them.
We stayed in the Gran Bahia Tulum, but you can also share the facilities or stay in the Akumal and Coba resorts. There is an exclusive Diamond Club section as well. We tried to pick our favourite but to be honest all three of the hotels were equally as good. There are so many restaurants to choose from and great swimming pools to enjoy. I also loved the bars situated right on the stunning beaches for your convenience when sunbathing.Compare reviews for the Gran Bahia Principe.
The Grand Palladium takes second place in our list of Riviera Maya Resorts. This a vast and beautiful hotel backing onto a spectacular section of white sandy beaches. If you stay in this resort you also have access to the facilities of its two connected hotel alongside it.
The tropical gardens offer a breathtaking backdrop to the surroundings and the three lagoons are well worth exploring. If you're lucky you may encounter a variety of animals and enchanting wildlife as you make your way around the extensive resort grounds.Read other traveller opinions about the hotel.
The Barcelo Maya Colonial is one of five Riviera Maya resorts which form the Barcelo complex. Like all the hotels on this list it is an all inclusive resort and an ideal location for a memorable Mexico vacation.
The a la carte and buffet restaurants are excellent and there are plenty of bars to choose from. This resort is great for families and there are many attractions on offer. Why not try parasailing, enjoy a catamaran sail boat trip or go scuba diving or snorkeling in the Caribbean Sea.Compare prices for the Barcelo Resorts.
One of the best things about staying in quality all Inclusive Resorts is the friendliness and dedication of the staff. This is in evidence at the Catalonia Royal Tulum, where the staff in general are always there to assist and seem genuinely happy to see you.
The Catalonia is an adults only hotel, so if you're planning your holiday for the whole family you would be best suited to one of the other resorts on this page. If however you want some time away from the kids this resort is well worth your consideration.Find the best deals for the Catalonia resort.
The Riu Palace is one of the most popular resorts in the Mayan Riviera. There are a selection of a la carte restaurants including Japanese, Mexican, Brazilian and Steakhouse varieties to enjoy. There is also a wide variety of cocktails to try and 24 hour room service, which is a great added feature.
You could easily spend all day in the swimming pool or exploring the beautiful sunsoaked beaches.Read other traveller reviews for the Riu Palace.
