Before you start packing your bags and jetting off on the first flight to Mexico though, it is a good idea to do some forward planning to really help you to get the best out of your Mexican vacation adventure.

When planning your Mexican holidays it is a good idea to explore a range of resort reviews. There are many options for you to choose from in the Mayan Riviera with a wide selection of impressive resorts spread out in large open spaces dotted along the breathtaking Caribbean coastline.

The top rated hotels in the region provide an excellent standard of service and are usually set in luxurious surroundings. The hotels are normally just a stones throw away from the stunning white sandy beaches.

The majority of large complex Riviera Maya Resorts are distinctly different to the built up and often over crowded areas surrounding Cancun. Choosing your perfect resort will all depend on your specific circumstances. For example, a couple seeking a romantic Mexico honeymoon may prefer to stay in one of the luxury hotels or quieter resorts in Tulum or Akumal. Where as a family or group of people with multiple age ranges and multiple interests to cater for, may prefer to be based in one of the popular Playa del Carmen resorts.

If you're travelling from Cancun airport you can usually expect a one to two hour airport transfer to your chosen Mexican holidays resort. It all depends of course on how many stops that the coach makes and the proximity of your resorts location.

The Belize Barrier Reef (which is the second largest coral reef in the world) is a popular hotspot for travellers. Many people plan their holiday to Mexico just to experience this natural wonder and enjoy the chance to experience snorkelling and scuba diving.

Mexican Vacation Excursions

Another reason to visit Mexico on holiday is to experience the unique cultural traditions and historical landmarks.

The Mayan Ruin sites at Chichen Itza, Coba and Muyil are fascinating places.

The ruins at Tulum Mexico are set right on the beach, this is a great place to explore and offers some spectacular photo opportunities.

Of course it depends on your budget but if you combine a few attractions and pick one of the many great Riviera Maya Resorts to stay in, you will be in for a great time and a great holiday. A good guide would be to visit one of the Mayan Ruin sites and maybe one of the eco-parks. If you're planning to splash out then the experience of swimming with Dolphins is an inspirational experience.
