Barcelo Maya Resort Review

The Barcelo Maya complex is formed by five different hotels;
the Caribe, Tropical, Colonial, Beach and Palace.

The resort contains an array of fantastic features and facilities. It's easy to understand why it's such a popular resort in this part of Mexico. The stunning white sandy beaches will definitely not disappoint.

If you're lucky you can get a great view overlooking the Caribbean Sea directly from your hotel room. Try and request a front facing building on the top level. Then you can wake up in the morning, to the sound of waves crashing ahead, just a stones throw away form your window.

The grounds throughout all the Barcelo Maya hotels are immaculate and the staff seem to constantly clean and tidy to maintain those high standards.

Facilities at the Resort

If you manage to tear yourself away from the Mexico beaches (easier said
than done), then the swimming pools at the complex are also excellent.
At the Barcelo Tropical there are two swim up bars and an activity pool where you can play games, including water polo and basketball. This general theme is repeated at the Barcelo Maya Caribe, Beach, colonial and Palace hotels.

The resorts overall are great for families and kids will happily splash about in the swimming pools all day long. If you prefer to relax and enjoy peace and quiet then there are also quiet pools to enjoy.

Probably the only downside or negative that you could find with this hotel is the walking, the resort is big and there will be a lot of walking. This can also be fun though, remember to bring your map and a bottle of water or two, and you can really enjoy exploring the grounds. There are mini-golf and pitch and putt courses on site. There is also the opportunity to go snorkeling, venture out on kayaks or get involved in a game of beach volleyball.

Food and Drink at the Barceleo Maya

The wide range of food and drink choices within the a la carte restaurants
at the Barcelo Maya is of a very high standard. There are Seafood, Steak,
Spanish, Japanese and Italian restaurants for you to choose from.

You have to make reservations for these restaurants and they do get booked early, so it is a good idea to do this as soon as you arrive at the resort.

The food at the buffet restaurants (which are based throughout all of the Barcelo Maya hotels in the complex) is also of a very good standard. There is always a wide variety of selections on offer for you to choose from.

The all-inclusive drinks are plentiful and readily available in the countless bars around the complex. There is also a mini-bar in your room which is restocked on a daily basis. There are nightly shows, including some children's entertainment where the kids will get the chance to go on stage. There is also a nightclub based in the Colonial hotel.

Overall this is a really good resort and it is based in an amazing location.
